Clubbing into the new year.

Where: Sugar Factory, Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
When: Stars hang over the crowd. Mobile snapshot of the first hours of 2008.
Flowers and plants.

Where: Korreweg, Groningen, the Netherlands.
What: Mobile snapshot. Display window of a flowers & plants shop on the Korreweg. It also sells decorated christmas-trees… without the tree. They sell christmas, then?
Have a seat.

Where: Kwinkenplein, Groningen, the Netherlands.
What: Mobile snapshot. Several of the bars and clubs in Groningen are open 24/7. You can find the oddest things in the streets after a clubnight.
And the crowd goes wild…

Where: Amsterdam ArenA, Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
What: Concert-time, again. Some 50.000 people show up to see Phil Collins, Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks with Daryl Stuermer and Chester Thempson jump on the reunion-bandwagon as they reform Genesis for a series of shows.
Seize the night.

Where: Heineken Music Hall, Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
Who: Meat Loaf and his band, the Neverland Express, who are on their ‘Seize the night’ tour. The silhouette shown on the right is Meat Loaf, waving his trademark red handkerchief. Although Meat Loaf is visibly and audibly rapidly nearing the end of his musical career, he was still able to put on an interesting performance.
Not the Messiah.

Where: The Palace, Shaftesbury Avenue, London, England.
What: Not the Messiah (He’s a Very Naughty Boy) is a comic oratorio that is based on Monty Python’s ‘Life of Brian’. It premieres on June 1 in Toronto, Canada.
Last november, in London, I went to see ‘Spamalot’, a musical based on Monty Python’s movie about the Holy Grail. The scenes from the movie translated great to stage, although some of the humor might be lost if you’re not familiar with the movie. An oratorio might be quite different from a musical, but it should still be interesting.
