Patron saint.

In 1955, architect Egbert Reitsma is commissioned to design an officebuilding for the corner of the Grote Markt and the Kreupelstraat. He decides to get the bricks for the building from Kerkdriel, as he finds that those bricks have a nicer color than the ones from Groningen. This sculpture, of Saint Martin of Tours - the patron saint of Groningen, is created from the same bricks as the building it is on. It looks out over the Main Square of the city.
