Island of the grey monks.

Where: Badweg, Schiermonnikoog, the Netherlands.
What: ‘Schier’ is an old word for grey, while ‘monnik’ translates to monk. Cistercian monks, who wore grey habits, were the first known owners of the island. Here’s a view of the dunes.

That has to be the perfect spot for meditation. I adore dunes and the muffled sound of the ocean.
With the heavy wind there that day, the sound of the ocean was hardly ‘muffled’.
