Bommen Berend - Step 2: Invite a spaceman.

Where: Stadspark, Groningen, the Netherlands.
What: Jan Akkerman (right), guitarist, introduces Wubbo Ockels (the first Dutch astronaut), who has developed a laddermill - a ladder of kites - that is used to generate electricity. The required electricity for Akkerman’s one hour show on this day is provided by this laddermill.
Bommen Berend - Step 1: Have a horseshow.

Where: Stadspark, Groningen, the Netherlands.
What: Every year, on the 28th of August (on the 17th of August in 1672-1700 due to the Julian calender), the city of Groningen celebrates breaking the seige of Bernhard von Galen, the prince-bishop of Münster. So how to celebrate this? The first step in organising ‘Bommen Berend’, as the day (after the nickname for Bernhard von Galen) is called, is having a horseshow.
Evil mooncloud.

Where: Still not on Earth.
What: ‘Evil Mooncloud’ is not my funny-Indian-name (but it should be). I hoped the clouds would somehow block the incoming evil of the full moon, but it only enhances it.
Night of the wolf.

Where: Not on Earth.
What: Ever dance with the devil in the pale moonlight? There’s a full moon tonight. Look out for anyone that looks to have had a hair growth spurt recently. Especially with the ‘Bommen Berend’-festival taking place in Groningen today. Alba is definitely affected by the full moon.
Commercial Break.

Where: Piccadilly Circus, London, England.
What: Let’s have a short commercial break, shall we? This wall of advertising has turned from a costly marketing tool into a tourist attraction. The advertisement in the middle is for McDonalds, left is Samsung, top is Coca-Cola, the blue bar on the left is part of the TDK-ad and the white bar is owned of Sanyo. The Budweiser-ad is not part of the wall of light, but it’s there nonetheless.
Nutter.
Rate this picture:Shermans little brothers.

Where: Kew Gardens, London, England.
What: General Sherman, a sierra redwood tree, is the largest living organism in the world. It’s some 2200 years old and almost 84 meters high. These two of it’s brothers are somewhat smaller. They live in Kew Gardens.
